Soundscapes

As part of your grade, you must create and present a soundscape in collaboration with another student. Here is the description from the syllabus: create and record a reading or talking or sound collage or environmental/soundscape, in response to the course. Individually, write a short "close listening" analysis of the result. Use any sound tools you want (Audacity is a great free editor: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ but don‟t forget the mp3 encoder), or just record to a tape recorder from your cell phone, or use another method, etc. Use readings/listenings from the syllabus as inspiration.

Record, upload, and post a link on your blog along with your analysis. You'll need to convert the file to something that can be hosted on the web. I think the easiest it to make it into a movie file such as a .wmv or .avi using WindowsMoviemaker, which comes with Windows XP and Vista. Then upload it to the blog or YouTube or Google Docs. Then put the link on your blog.

Sign up for soundscape presentations below. You present in pair and there can be up to three presentations per class. Indicate your date in a response.
